Planning and design for a 22,000 SF addition and 11,000 SF renovation to the DuPont Science Building. The addition houses a total of seven new state-of-the-art Biology, Chemistry, and Physics labs, which are designed as a combination laboratory and classroom. Prep rooms and independent project rooms are located adjacent to the lab/classrooms. The facility includes a greenhouse and several group studies. The existing building was renovated to provide twelve new classrooms and a combined sciences/math faculty suite. The project was phased, with the new building being constructed first, followed by the renovation of DuPont. The L-shaped facility embraces an exterior courtyard that will provide study and gathering space as well as views to the coast. The project achieved LEED Gold certification.
