The United Airlines Flight Training Center Project (UFTC) project focuses on extensive renovation of 470,000 square feet to transform the facility into a premier training center that supports United’s training needs now and into the future.
The UFTC campus is comprised of six buildings that contain flight simulator bays, in-flight training areas, classrooms, office spaces and a cafeteria. The campus has been built over several decades, ranging from the late 1960s to the late 1990s. In addition to creating a state of the art training facility and accommodating additional training equipment and personnel, the project integrates the various buildings into one cohesive campus, reflecting United’s brand identity in the interior architecture of the facility. The phased renovation of the facility allowed United to maintain continuous operations throughout the duration of the project.
The fast-track delivery of the design, along with phased packaging, allowed construction to begin on early phases of work much earlier in the overall schedule, while other, later phases of work were still in design. This enabled work in the simulators bays to be expedited and meet the client’s aggressive delivery schedule for simulator device installations.
