Located on the site of the existing U.S. embassy campus in Niamey, the new campus includes a new chancery building, main campus access pavilion, service campus access pavilion, recreation building with an outdoor swimming pool, and a utility building. In addition to the newly constructed buildings, the project included an addition to the existing U.S. Marine Corps Residence, as well as an addition to the existing warehouse. Off-campus elements included a 700KW solar energy farm and a campus access pavilion for the adjacent American International School of Niger. The campus has covered outdoor seating areas, new and renovated sport courts, and covered parking for staff and visitors.
In an effort to provide a highly secure and functional design for U.S. personnel, design of the embassy campus responds to the existing operations of the U.S. embassy staff, the challenging physical site context and climate, and the host country’s culture.
The project is LEED Platinum certified.
