Founded in 1839, the Virginia Military Institute is the oldest state-supported military college in the U.S. To support the modernization of VMI’s 24-year-old biology and chemistry building, Page’s lab planning team provided complete laboratory planning services including programming, equipment planning, documentation, and construction administration.

The science building includes 11 learning labs, 14 research labs, five classrooms, 20 offices, and a three-bay greenhouse. Improvements included new electrical and mechanical exhaust systems, gasses, water upgrades, lab vacuum, and compressed air. We coordinated closely between the design, construction, and faculty teams to allow the building to remain functional and operational during the phased construction.
