At Page Boston, we recently had the privilege of hosting a group of students from Digital Ready, an organization dedicated to unlocking the creative potential of high school students—particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds—to build pathways to economic opportunities within Boston’s thriving innovation economy.
Digital Ready works alongside the community to prepare the next generation of innovators by bridging the gap between high school, college, and industry. Through their triple enrollment pathways, students engage in rigorous academic and technical studios, gain early college credits, and participate in work-based learning experiences. Their mission to empower students of color to earn college credits and gain valuable experience in STEM fields resonates deeply with our commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion within our industry.
Our goal in hosting this visit was to provide a genuine “day in the life” experience at an integrated architecture and engineering firm. The students rotated through breakout sessions focused on four core areas of Page’s practice: Architecture, Engineering, Interior Design, and Marketing (Storytelling/Business Development).
- Architecture: Students explored a sample portfolio and gained insights from our designers about what makes a compelling and standout portfolio.
- Engineering: Our engineers introduced the diverse facets of their field, demonstrating real-world applications of engineering concepts.
- Interior Design: Students had a hands-on experience selecting swatches and materials to design a sample room, understanding the impact of thoughtful design choices.
- Marketing (Storytelling/BD): The Storytelling/ BD Team shared strategies for creating brand recognition and storytelling in a competitive market.
Our hope was to provide a tangible and inspiring glimpse into the possibilities of a career in architecture and design—an industry that thrives on diverse perspectives and creativity. We ended the day with a pizza party and a reflective discussion, offering sketchbooks to the students as a small reminder of the creative potential they carry.
At Page, we believe that investing in our community and nurturing the next generation of designers is not just a responsibility—it's a privilege. Creating inclusive pathways for young talent is essential to shaping a more innovative, equitable, and diverse future in our industry.
