Our work at Indeed Tower in Austin, Texas has been recognized with a 2024 Green Good Design Sustainability Award from the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies and The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design.
Our design approach for this 36-story office tower Included deliberately proportioned floor plates to allow for efficiency in space planning, penetration of natural light, and maximized views. The project far exceeded its original sustainability targets and has achieved LEED Core & Shell v4 Platinum certification from the United States Green Building Council, as well as a 4-star Austin Energy Green Building (AEGB) Commercial Rating, Fitwel 1 Star certification, and WELL Health-Safety rating.
The project collects, stores, and reuses rainwater onsite, resulting in 100% of site water being from non-potable sources. Potable water within the building was reduced by 30% -- saving 1.5 million gallons saved annually.
Through high-performance glazing, interior lighting power reduction, and cooling equipment, Indeed achieved 14% (LEED) and 12.6% (AEGB) total cost reduction. Our contractor responsibly diverted 82.6% of demolition and construction materials from landfills and incineration; and 34% by cost of materials came from recycled and recyclable (closed loop) sources.
We are proud to have worked with our client Trammell Crow Company to create this true green gem in downtown Austin, and continue to refine it under the stewardship of Kilroy, who purchased the building in 2021.”
Our goal? Recreate these high standards for sustainable building by helping clients nationwide realize cost savings in their projects and maximize the potential for positive impact in the physical environments of their communities and beyond.
