CHID stands for Certified Healthcare Interior Designer. License holders have demonstrated competence in a variety of healthcare interior environment aspects such as acute care, ambulatory care and residential healthcare facilities.
CDT (Construction Documents Technologist) certification demonstrates competence in preparing, enforcing, interpreting or managing any aspect of construction documentation. Holders understand the core stages of a typical construction project cycle, related documents and project participant relationships.
EDAC, or Evidence-based Design Accreditation & Certification, demonstrates in-depth knowledge of the process of basing decisions about the built environment on credible research to achieve the best possible outcomes in healthcare environments.
LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is the most widely used green building rating system in the world, which provides a framework to create healthy, highly efficient and cost-saving green buildings. Achieving LEED Green Associate requires demonstration of knowledge of green building practices.
NCARB, National Council of Architectural Registration Boards, is a nonprofit organization made up of the architectural licensing boards of 55 U.S. states and territories. It facilitates the recriprocal credentialing of architects to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public.
NCIDQ certification issued by the National Council for Interior Design Qualification is the industry's recognized indicator of proficiency in interior design principles and a designer's commitment to the profession. Certificate holders are trained to create spaces that meet local, state and provincial building codes and the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act as well as the needs of the intended user.
PE, or Professional Engineers, must first pass a Fundamentals of Engineering exam after graduating from college with a related degree, then complete four years of progressive engineering experience under a licensed PE. Then, they may take a Principals and Practice of Engineering exam to become licensed themselves.
RA stands for Registered Architect and indicates that a designer has worked underneath a supervising architect, passed their examinations and become registered with at least one state in the U.S. This too requires a related college degree.
RID indicates a professional is a Registered Interior Designer and their first priorities are public health, safety and welfare (HSW). RID certificate holders are trained to create spaces that meet local, state and provincial building codes and the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act as well as the needs of the intended user.
WELL AP (Accredited Professional) is a credential granted by the Green Business Certification Institute, an American organization that provides third-party credentialing and verification for several rating systems relating to the built environment. WELL AP signifies advanced knowledge in seven concepts of human health and wellness in the built environment, and specialization in the WELL Building Standard.
