Spring Valley Medical Plaza Interiors
Page designed a six-story medical plaza building in central Houston housing 83,500 square feet of tenant space. In addition to the interior architecture and common finishes, the firm also designed a 14,168 square foot ambulatory surgical center with an additional associated 8,022 square foot office space, 8,766 square foot surgical and laboratory space, 8,300 square foot surgery practice, 3,000 square foot restorative health facility and a 3,000 square foot medical spa for various clients.
The ambulatory surgical center and associated office space are located on the top floor of the building. For those patients that need additional respite and healing in an atmosphere more reminiscent of a hotel than a hospital, a restorative health facility with five private rooms and luxurious en suite bathrooms are conveniently located in the building. These large spaces also offer overnight accommodations for visiting family members.
The strategic location of the related staff station, centered in the corridor and adjacent to the pharmacy and pantry, allows for dual function. It serves as a nurse station from which staff can monitor and prepare treatments for surgical and recuperating patients, as well as a base from which to provide visitor resources.
On another floor, an independent medical tenant retained Page to design their new 8,300 square foot practice space to accommodate ten exam and non-invasive procedure rooms, office and administrative support spaces and a small AAAASF-certified surgical suite. The design team incorporated daylighting and used a materials palette that linked the client’s brand with the associated medical spa on the first floor of the building, combining warm colors with matte and polished finishes and textural fabrics.
On the first floor, the same tenant's new 3,000 square foot medical spa provides a dramatic and inviting street-level first-impression of the medical office building. Page also designed the five treatment rooms, including one dedicated to laser procedures, as well as staff support spaces, and a large open reception and waiting area featuring retail displays. These include a makeup and product demonstration counter and a display monitor for product presentations.
In both the spa and related clinic upstairs, soft pinks and pale greens were used as accents on a neutral palette of cream, gold, bright white, and wood throughout. In the reception and waiting area, a dramatic curtain of metal beads provides shading from the sun while still allowing views both directions. Matte white tile flooring, polished and brushed stainless steel and glossy white retail walls create a clean modern feeling. The hard finishes play off rich textural fabrics and soft rounded furnishings as well as a luxurious gold and green-veined Quartzite accent slab.
